Qualifications:
Degree from an accredited Art College. Proficiency in
Graphic design software programs, including Adobe Creative Suite, CorelDraw. Nice to have but not required: Quarkexpress.
3+ years of experience with print media and branding.
Education:
Studio art, principles of design, computerized design, commercial graphics production, printing techniques, and Web site design. In addition to design courses, a liberal arts education that includes courses in art history, writing, psychology, sociology, foreign languages and cultural studies, marketing, and business are useful.
Other traits:
Creativity, communication, and problem-solving skills are crucial. The candidate must be creative and able to communicate their ideas visually, verbally, and in writing. S/he also must have an eye for details. A good portfolio is critical.
Objective:
Portfolio should show art that is meant to evoke an emotion, convey a feeling or present a mood.
Work:
The candidate must be able to plan, analyze, and create visual solutions to communications problems using color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques. S/he must also produce ads, promotional displays, packaging, and marketing brochures for our services. The candidate would select colors, artwork, photography, style of type, and other visual elements for the design as well as select the size and arrangement of the different elements on the page. The candidate would create logos, brochures, packaging, annual reports, marketing collaterals, etc.
